Volunteering ACT is continuing to receive an ever increasing number of potential volunteers who wish to do IT, clerical and administrative type work.
Our referral system allows volunteers to choose positions which best suit their needs and interests. It also provides organisations with an avenue for advertising the required skills that they need in a volunteering capacity.
By linking the volunteers to the appropriate organisations and reaching out to the various agencies in our region to become members, we are enhancing public awareness and providing the community with an understanding of the quality and depth of volunteer work around us.
In particular we have a great demand for positions such as data base management and website design in our member organisations. These positions are much sought after by students and graduates who are looking to obtain work experience.
We also have mature women who are looking to re-enter the workforce in admin, clerical and receptionist type roles but whose skills may need updating.
Recently we have come across people with a disability who would like to gain some experience or offer help in areas that may be of interest to them.
