Access City Hotline

The Access City Hotline is a free service that has been established to enable people to remove physical and sensory barriers from their environments.

Working with people who may have difficulties “getting around” you would be aware of many of the obstacles they face as part of their daily lives. It is these obstacles that the Hotline is trying to eliminate from Canberra’s environment. The ultimate goal of the Hotline is to ensure that Canberra is a more accessible city for the present as well as the future.

Access is an issue for many groups of people including:

  • the frail elderly
  • those with sensory, intellectual or physical disability and their carers
  • parents or carers of young children with prams.

The aim of the Hotline has been to establish a seamless path of referral for the resolution of access concerns. The service also extends advocacy to its clients by offering assistance with the follow-up and resolution of issues.
