Board of Governance 2011-12

Our Board of Governance is comprised of 8 volunteers – 4 office-bearers and 4 Ordinary Members – drawn from the general community and from our membership. An additional 2 Ordinary Members may be co-opted to the Board.

Dianne Carlos

President

Dianne Carlos became President of the Board in December 2011, having been elected Vice-President at the October 2011 Annual General Meeting.

Dianne has over 20 years’ experience in senior finance and corporate roles in the public sector and is currently Chief Operating Officer for the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.

Dianne has tertiary qualifications in Management Sciences, majoring in Accounting and Economics, from the University of Canberra.  She is a member of the Finance Committee of the Australian National University.


Jane Hayden

Treasurer

Jane was co-opted to the Board in May 2011in the role of Treasurer. Jane is the Director of Service Support and Development for Lifeline Australia. Her responsibilities include policy and practice support for Lifeline Centres and national management of Lifeline’s crisis line and on-line chat service. Prior to joining Lifeline Jane had 20 years experience in business and IT consulting to the corporate and Government sectors.

Jane is a qualified accountant, a CPA and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Jane chairs Volunteering ACT’s Finance and Audit Committee.


Wendy Prowse

Secretary

Wendy joined the Board in 2010 and became Secretary at the October 2011 AGM. Wendy has over 20 years experience in the not for profit sector, predominantly in the Health and Aged Care sectors and more recently in Community Services.

Her roles have included business development, human resources, project management and marketing. Wendy has tertiary qualifications in business management.


Jason Lange

Member

Jason has been a Board member since 2004 and has held the positions of Secretary and member during that time. He has been a member of the Board of Volunteering Australia, as Secretary, since November 2008.

Jason is keenly interested in policy and Government principles, and has been working for the Australian Government on social policy matters since moving to Canberra in early 2004.


Rhys Morrison

Member

Rhys joined the Volunteering ACT Board at the October 2011 AGM. Rhys has worked within the advertising communications industry for the last decade. In 2005 Rhys moved from Wollongong to Canberra. He is currently with Grey, Canberra’s only full-service, multi-national advertising agency, working with clients across numerous sectors, including many not for profit agencies.


John Lewis

Member

John joined the Board at the October 2011 AGM and is a member of the Finance and Audit Committee. John was a founder and General Manager of Acumen Alliance, a national accounting and IT consulting business, which merged with listed company, Oakton. After managing the local operation for 8 years, John now runs his own management consulting business.

John is a CPA, Professional and Senior Member of the Australian Computer Society and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. John is also President of the Canberra Southern Cross Club.


Jason Moffett

Member

Jason joined the Board at the October 2011 AGM. Jason has legal and business qualifications and is admitted to practice as a solicitor in NSW and the ACT. Jason worked with national law firms in Sydney before coming to Canberra in 2008.

Currently he is employed by local law firm, Snedden Hall & Gallop Lawyers, focussing on insurance law, employment law and commercial advisory.


Avi Rebera

Co-Opted Member

Avi joined the Board as an ordinary member during 2010. Avi has over 17 years experience in the finance sector and has worked with both domestic and foreign global financial institutions.

Currently Avi is Head of Business Development, Northern Region, Transaction Banking Solutions for the Commonwealth Bank. He specialises in developing working capital solutions for major clients across the Institutional Banking and Government sectors.


Maureen Cane

CEO

Maureen joined Volunteering ACT as Chief Executive Officer in April 2011, after a successful career in senior management positions in the Australian and ACT Public Services and in the community sector. 

She has an honours degree from Oxford University and post-graduate qualifications in public health.

Maureen was honoured with the award of Canberra Citizen of the Year for 2011 in recognition of her personal efforts and significant contributions to the ACT community.
