SHINE! has started! SHINE! is a program which encourages high school students to learn about volunteering. It encourages students to experience the value of volunteering to individuals and the community.
During 2006, a pilot program began at Gold Creek School and Lanyon High School. Twenty-six students volunteered at nine not-for-profit organisations across Canberra.
In 2007, SHINE! worked with the following schools:
- Lanyon High
- Alfred Deakin High
- Amaroo School
- Stromlo High
- Marist College
- St Francis Xavier College
Students have found their experiences of volunteering worthwhile, increasing their knowledge, skills and personal well-being through their activities. Many students intend to continue volunteering.

- Red Cross - Youth Crew
- St Vincent de Paul - Vinnies Youth
- St John Ambulance - Youth
- Questacon - Schools Training Program
